As typical as the other Bertrem's guides, this book tells the stories of the standard every day people on Krynn and how they live through the War of the Souls.

I approached this book with trepidation, as previous instances of these types of stories are usually quite boring and dry. I was pleasantly surprised though, as several tales were engrossing and interesting. Of great entertainment was the essay written by the draconians of Teyr on the rebuilding of the city and the development of their society. I also enjoyed the story of the Urkhan worms, the research into afflicted kender, and the insurrection that never was.

Skimming through the index, I'd have to say that I really enjoyed everything in the book, except for the very first story. This was a story about rumors and tall tales spread by the general population about seeing Heroes of the Lance everywhere, much like purported sightings of Elvis. Not only did I find the entire story just plain silly, but the writing wasn't the caliber one would expect from Don Perrin.

Fortunately, the rest of the book didn't follow in the silliness of the first story and made for very interesting reading.
