Forces Organize in Sable's Swamp

Inglewood - Troubling signs are beginning to emerge of some kind of intelligence organizing the creatures and denizens from Sable's swamp into something resembling an army.

Townspeople in the small towns along the western edge of the swamp created by the now deceased black Dragon Overlord Sable are beginning to fear some malevolent force is organising the monsters and denizens into a cohesive fighting force.

"We first began to worry when our bakali trading partners, the clan called the Smokyscales, reported strange activity from within the swamp itself," said Pyihr Ramdir, lead guildsman and town spokesperson of Inglewood. "Bakali clans that even Sable had had trouble getting to work together are now launching unified attacks on the Smokyscales village. The degree of the danger became apparent to us earlier this week when the entire clan of the Smokyscales appeared at our gates seeking refuge, their village destroyed by their aggressive kin."

Hunterston, a tiny village twenty miles north of Inglewood was almost completely wiped out. Two survivors managed to make their way to Inglewood: Janyce Oakwood of Mishakal, the local cleric and her young twelve year old daughter Alison.

"The attack came without warning," said Janyce Oakwood, a half-elf. "I was tending the wounds of a hunting party that had just returned, when we heard the bakali war horns. They are unmistakable - a trumpeting roar that somehow hisses. I had just taken my daughter Alison down into the cellar and was about to offer what aid I could to townsfolk when something crashed into our small hut, bringing it down above us. By the time we had dug our way out of the cellar everybody was dead. We found two differing sets of tracks belonging to creations of the Black Dragonlord, creatures that even Sable would've had trouble controlling and yet here they are working with hostile Bakali."

Inglewood has dispatched an elite team of hunters and trackers into the depths of the swamp to find out the truth of what is going on.
