Inglewood - The small town of Inglewood has hired hobgoblins to assist in the towns defense.

Inglewood, the small merchant town near the edge of Sable's swamp which is going through a small financial boom due to trade with a clan of bakali, has hired a number of hobgoblins from a small goblin tribe to bolster the town's defense. Other individuals from the tribe have been hired for other jobs about the town, including amongst others extending the defensive wall, building watchtowers, installing a sewage system and erecting the new town hall etc.

"They are hard workers," said Pyihr Ramdir, lead guildsman and town spokesperson. "The town is just growing so fast, we needed the extra manpower. We provide them with enough instruction and supervision and they do the job fast and reliably. There have been some problems and we had to chase a few of the more untrustworthy out town. Otherwise it's just been loud arguments and a couple of brawls, but most of these seem to have been started by the intolerant, rankled that they have deal with goblins."

Inglewood because of it's proximity to Sable's swamp is often subjected to minor skirmishes with the minions and obscene creations of the now deceased black dragon overlord. The town's sturdy wall provides enough protection to allow the towns archers to deal with the incidents. It was during one of the most recent attacks involving a scaled monstrosity the size of a large horse, when the hobgoblins really proved their worth. Sable's horse-sized abomination, described as a cross between a wild boar and reptile headed straight for the hole in the incomplete extension of the wall. It was met by five guards, a human, a half-elf, and three hobgoblins.

"Me and young Fyffier peppered the critter with arrows," said Ayndion Half-Elven, a grizzled and scarred veteran guard. "But theys just bounced off its scales not slowing it in the slightest. Broketooth and his hob boys just charged, didn't even hesitate for a heartbeat." Anrak Broketooth is considered the premiere warrior of the tribe. "They knew what they had to do and they did it well. They spilt up, Broketooth keeping the beasties attention his boys closed in from behind. One of them was sent flying by its tail, but the other managed to get in close and lop off one of its rear hoofs crippling it. That is when Broketooth stepped in with that great big maul o' his. Shattered it's skull like a melon with a single mighty blow. Never seen anything like it in all my days."

In all a total; forty-five goblins have taken up residence within the walls of Inglewood.
