Strike Cripples Sanction's Docks
by Darcwulf, Staff Writer
Sanction - The dockworkers of Sanction have gone on strike after a series of accidents demanding better safety condition.
The dockworkers guild of Sanction went on strike this past Misham after the fourth serious accident in two weeks. They are refusing to return to work until their demands for better safety conditions are met. Already the inactivity on the docks is crippling the city which relies so heavily on the sea.
"We already have dozens of ships, waiting to unload their goods," said Isabella Thorpe, spokesman for Governor Bight. "We have promised to answer all off their complaints as soon as we are able, but they refuse to return to work unless they are resolved first. They have always accepted our Lord's word before, but these terrible accidents have them all frightened."
The most recent and serious accident happened Misham morning when one of the cranes used to lift goods out from holds of the ships collapsed on top three of the dockworkers. Although all three were rescued alive and healed by the local Mishakalites, one unfortunately lost his leg, utterly crushed under all the weight.
"Tis ner good "nough," said Hagar Hoarybull, spokesman of the dockworker's guild. "Dat crane twas rotten through. I coulds breaks de wood with me's own hands, twas so weak. Me and me boys ain't gonna set a single foot on dose there docks until all dat equipment is replaced with bran' spankin' new stuff!"
"All the dock side equipment was replaced just last year," Isabella Thorpe said in response. "The extent of the damage in the crane and other equipment leads us to suspect sabotage. Lord Bight has had his most trusted agent investigating the matter for several days now."
