Peace Breaks Out After License Expiration

Ansalon - For the first time in eighty-years, widespread peace has broken out across all of Ansalon. Minutes after MWP's license to produce DL gaming products expired conflicts, battles, and wars died down instantly.

"We can finally rebuild!" said Solace resident Laura Majere. "My inn has been destroyed five thousand times since the War of the Lance, and now without all of these dang role-players starting campaigns here day after day, I can finally relax! Buildings being constructed are no longer being ruined every five minutes."

Nightlord Baltasar Rennold said in an exclusive interview, "This is exactly what the knighthood needs. Too often DMs are using my knights as bad guys even though we do not have the manpower or funding to conduct all of these operations. We are in a period of reconstruction. Do you realize how much of a drain it was on our resources to send armies out to every single inane adventure being run? This relief is required in order for the knighthood to survive."

As much as the gaming side of things has died down, everything has not turned completely quiet. "There are still novels being released," said NPC historian Doctor Unim Portent. "This will be a source of some conflict, but there are no continent-wide epic tales being planned for the current year or the immediate future. There will be some battles, but nothing as devastating as the War of Souls or a single published campaign being run seventeen hundred times over half the countryside. Players simply do not understand the harm done when so many people run the same set of events over and over in the same area at the same time. It amounts to roughly same amount of carnage one would expect in a Chris Pierson short story. Thousands of nameless NPCs are murdered every day."

Not everyone has been happy with the change. Palanthas weapons dealer Pokum Enbash has vocalized his frustration. "Do you know how many novel characters walk into a store to upgrade their weapons? None! It's always a family heirloom, or a gift from a mystical stranger, or a reward found on the path to their goals. Not one of them ever walks into a store and buys anything! I'll be ruined!"

Goddess of Light Mishakal also has reservations. "My church is now in a period of stockpiling. We're going to use this opportunity to gather as many supplies as we can. These things are always cyclical. Soon or later some one will start up a fourth edition Dragonlance setting, and that mean introducing it with some massive catastrophe in Ansalon. Let the people of Ansalon be assured, we will be ready when 4E arrives on Krynn! We will!"

Hints of disaster are already in the making, according to experts. With events of interest now only being released in novels, reports from Hylo are that even the afflicted kender are getting restless. Lady Belladonna had this to say. "I'm bored."
