Istar - A statement was released from the Great Temple this week stating that Istaran forces had destroyed the last known settlement of the barbaric elves, the so-called Kagonesti in the lands approaching Thorbardin. Last month the loyal and brave scatas, the infantry troops of the church, launched a surprise raid on their village where the the infidels were practising their evil heathen customs.

"It was a horrible sight," said Captain Boros Maltamir, leader of the three legions sent. "They were dancing a dark ritual, devouring the raw bloody flesh of men in what the Lightbringer told us was an effort to summon dark powers to destroy our glorious empire."

"It is hard to believe that these monstrous creatures are related to the noble elves of Silvanesti and Qualinesti. They tattoo themselves with hideous symbols and devious decorations, so that they resemble the fiends from the Abyss which they worship and venerate. Included amongst this unholy script are arcane symbols of power that are so revolting that they drive the sanity from the godless wretches and lend fiendish strength to their blows. This enabled them to attack with a diabolical fury and power that so easily could have overwhelmed my troops. It was only thanks to our strong faith in our Lord, Kingpriest Beldinas and Paladine that we were able to turn the tide of their wicked enchantments and win the day for the glory of the Lightbringer and Istar."

Over one hundred loyal warriors of the Faith, lost their lives and the Kingpriest has asked that all true believers to pray for the souls of these scatas who fell spreading his word and that of Paladine to the distant corners of the continent. It was originally believed that all the barbaric, cannibalistic Kagonesti were slain during the attack. However with several raids against trade caravans and other convoys passing near the region, it is now feared that at least one may have survived is continuing to work for his evil gods.
