A Tale of Two Catherwoods

Brasdel – In a stunning turn of events, it has been discovered that there may be two Marlana Catherwoods.

A week prior a blind woman was found wandering the foothills near Brasdel. She identified herself as Marlana Catherwood of Thelgaard and told of an attack on her caravan. A runner, Egon Detrick was dispatched to Thelgaard to inform Catherwood's family of the incident. When Detrick arrived at the Catherwood Estate in Thelgaard's Nob Hill, he was admitted to see Lady Catherwood.

According to Detrick he assumed Lady Catherwood, meant he would be speaking to Catherwood's mother, but was astonished when he was introduced to the very woman about whom he had come to give his message. Detrick told the Herald, " I was amazed when I saw her. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how she'd beaten me from Brasdel to Thelgaard. I asked if she had a sister, to which she answered no. I could tell she was just as confused as I was, so I decided to just deliver my report and let the cards fall where they may. I must say I felt a bit foolish for doing so.".

Detrick reported that during his report Lady Catherwood listened calmly but did not appear to be able to see him. She asked him several questions which he answered to the best of his ability. He learned that, like the woman in Brasdel, she too was blind. She claimed to know nothing of any United Realms organization, but expressed a desire to meet the woman who was "Trading on her famiy's good name."

Lady Marlana Catherwood of Thelgaard is headmistress for the Catherwood Academy of the Blind.

Adventure Hooks

The heroes have been hired by the Marlana Catherwood in Thelgaard to escort her to Brasdel to investigate Detrick's claims of another Marlana Catherwood. Along the way they meet a Mystic of Time who claims that the two must not meet, that such a meeting would have dire consequences for the world. The heroes then have a choice of completing the task they were hired to do, or taking the mystic at his word and doing everything they can to prevent the two Catherwood from meeting.
