Palanthas – The trial of the Vigilant Eyes got under way today and ended just as quickly

Grayson Halliwell, formerly of the Solamnic Auxiliary, and two co-conspirators were led into the courthouse today under heavy guard, including a white-robed so-called Renegade Hunter on loan from the Orders of High Sorcery. The other two conspirators are identified as Darthan Saal of Lemish and James Rheidar of Sanction.

Magistrate Gyanna Blueshade called the trial to order. Before a packed courtroom she read the charges. Halliwell and his cohorts stand accused of violating the city's prohibition against mind reading and illegally detaining people against their will.

Witnesses report that, during the reading of the charges, they heard mumbling coming from the magistrate's podium. Seconds later a bright flash filled the room and when everyone could see again, Halliwell, Saal, and Rheidar were gone.

A city wide search was immediately commenced to look for the missing defendants but no trace of the Vigilant Eyes was found. The Renegade Hunter, Haloran Karnifex, assigned to the case, reported a lack of success as well. When asked for comment he told the Herald, 'I am not authorized to make a statement at this time."

Representatives for the Orders of High Sorcery, including Coryn Brinefolk of the White Robes, likewise declined to comment.
