Doomsayers Arrested During World's End
by Trampas Whiteman, Staff Writer
Palanthas – Four members of a cult known as the Doomsayers have been arrested last Misham on charges disturbing the peace and resisting arrest during a demonstration that, according to them, was the first sign of the end of the world.
"The Doomsayers believe that the end is nigh," City Guard official Dalfin Reven said. "Their creed is that the end of the world as we know it is here and that the world shall come under a new rule. They've been stirring up trouble for a while now, even setting up a booth at the Labyrinth."
The demonstration led to a near-riot when the Doomsayers began antagonizing the crowd outside of the Lord's Palace. Members of the City Guard were called in to stabilize the deteriorating situation.
"We are a peaceful faith," Doomsayer priest Jezrin Demiiz said. "Yes, we believe that the world will come to an end someday. But that is so that a better, brighter world can be made from its ashes. This has happened before with the Cataclysm. It will be preceded by signs from the gods in the form of a personal experience that changes the soul forever. The four men who were arrested were...an enthusiastic group within our faith. They believe that the new world is to come now. A deeper look into our faith will show that the world's end is not for many years yet."
A trial date has yet to be set by a magistrate.
