Garnet Thax Demands Apology from Bakkard du Chagne
by Heine Stick, Staff Writer
Palanthas - Garnet Thax is in an uproar after a trade delegation was refused access to Palanthas on Bakukal. Dwarven political leaders have demanded that Lord Regent Bakkard du Chagne apologize for his soldiers' blunder.
According to eyewitnesses, the political crisis started when Knights of Solamnia stationed at the High Clerist's Tower refused to let the dwarves pass, claiming that the dwarves were carrying contraband such as various poisons and other illegal substances. The eyewitnesses report that the dwarves declined to let the knights search their wagons and turned around, heading back to Garnet Thax.
"This is madness," exclaimed dwarven merchant Gorman Flintfire. "For centuries we've been staunch allies and now they accuse us of smuggling contraband! Never in my 103 years have I been this insulted!"
"We won't be sending any more caravans to Palanthas until du Chagne has apologized to us. In fact, the next communication between Palanthas and Garnet Thax will be in the form of a letter of apology from Bakkard du Chagne."
The Garnet reaction comes as a surprise to most Palanthian politicians, none of whom wish to comment before hearing what the Lord Knight has to say about the situation. It is expected that the Lord Knight will address the Senate today to explain what happened at the High Clerist's Tower.
