Senate Offers Reward for Daring Adventurers

Palanthas – The Senate today has agreed to grant the City Guard the sum of 500 steel pieces to gain the services of some of the wealth of mercenaries that make Palanthas their home.

It comes after the deaths of several sorcerers and the mysterious outbreak of disease earlier this year. In a Senate meeting, held behind closed doors, the notable sorcerer, Hickutakl, as well as others, gave evidence on the lethal events.

Argonia Thistlethorn, the cleric of Chislev who assisted the City Guard recently against a Quippoth attack, could been seem as she exited the chamber in a state of distress. Thistlethorn refused to give an interview.

Senator Dalesard read the following statement: "The Senate has agreed to fund the hiring of sturdy men-at-arms to undertake a dangerous and possibly difficult task within the city. The Senate wishes to ensure the citizens of Palanthas that at no point will their safety become threatened and wishes for them to remain vigilant against these strange outbreaks of murder and exotic creatures."

Dalesard refused to go into any more detail about the nature of the task or to how many mercenaries should seek to apply, except to say that with the blessings of Shinare, the matter should be resolved soon.

Hickutakl, one of the leading sorcerers in Palanthas, then went on to say "we have seen a step forward into finding the foul murderer of so many of my sorcerer brothers today. Let us hope that the Senate's actions bear the desired fruits."
