Wanted Dark Knight Turns Himself In
by Carteeg Struve, Staff Writer
Palanthas - Lyber Blessed (21), Knight of Neraka, returned to his home city of Palanthas on the first of the month. The dark knight has been wanted for several crimes since assisting in the escape of his father, Holan Blessed, and several others from the Palanthas Courthouse last winter. Prior to that, Lyber was one of many citizens of Palanthas who joined the dark knights during the occupation and were given the choice of exile or arrest after the liberation.
Before turning himself in, he entered the offices of the Herald to make public certain details before handing himself over for arrest. His statement was given without the knowledge of the City Guard.
"I do believe in my Knighthood. I believed in what I did for my city, and I believe still that they are better for Palanthas than the present forces. It is for that reason I am here. For the past months, I have been witness to the planning and execution of many acts of terrorism against my home city, many that have not yet been brought to fruition. I must also make clear my actions were not in any way connected to the Knights of Neraka. They had no knowledge of my doings during this time.
"I partook in the planting of monsters near the Shoikan grove so they would absorb the properties of the trees. The Shoikan saplings now owned by many are in truth violent Shoikan treants sleeping through their younger stages. I sold them to venders around the city along with a kender whom was later murdered into silence. A full-grown version of this creature was recently seen outside of the city. The Lord Regent must be quick to gather and destroy them before they awake in the coming months and begin to wreck havoc.
"I am aware of the taking of the Great Queen statue from beneath the bay and the use of magics to duplicate it upon the hills outside the city. I've worked with those that helped finance spokespeople for Nerakan propaganda at the university and the murder of a Herald investigator to keep secret the fact their tuitions were paid by a group threatening Palanthas.
"The group's leader is Lily-Ann Sojourner. Although she's a kender, she is the most charismatic and vicious woman I have ever met. Sojourner prays to Takhisis even though she knows her dead, and she somehow can cast through prayer. I don't know his identity, but she has been blackmailing one of the senators in order to ease some of her actions.
"I will co-operate with the city and accept any and all punishment for my actions. I come here because I believe in the Lord Ariakan's vision of peace and security, not in Sojourner's vision of destruction and horror. Palanthas is my home, and my heart has always been here. May the soul of Ariakan bless this city and forgive me of my trespasses against it."
