by Kendermage, Staff Writer
Palanthas – On Bakukal , the Chairman of the Senate began the session by calling for an up or down vote on the controversial Mind Reading Bill.
Sources within the Senate report that several progressive Senators attempted to keep the bill alive. However, the chairman, viewed by many to be a traditionalist, immediately squashed any further debate. "We have been dragging our feet in dealing with this issue. Every day we delay breeds more threats such as the White Veil, which I remind you carried out a violent attack in our own city last week. Do you want to take a chance on them blowing up the Lord's Palace? The time for debate is over. Today we settle it."
A vote was immediately taken. The votes were counted and double checked for accuracy, and the results given to the Chairman, which he read, "In the matter of the Mind Reading Bill, the vote is 11 for and 39 against, the measure is defeated."
According to sources some squabbling and finger point ensued, but the Chairman restored order calling for proposals for dealing with the White Veil.
