Palanthas – The crew of the minotaur vessel Red Marauder was arrested during the middle of the night last Linaras on charges of illegal slave trading. The ship, reported to be carrying forty elves of mixed heritage, has been impounded.

"We were setting down to a good night's rest when I saw a figure swimming in the water," Argrin Willowsworth said. "I helped the poor fellow up, and to my surprise, he was an elf! Looked pretty ragged too. He had several bruises on him. After helping him to a bunk, he told me that he had escaped from a minotaur vessel in the harbor. I contacted the Port Authority immediately."

According to Admiral Bahal Villem of the Palanthian Navy, a blockade was quickly arranged to prevent the vessel's escape. "We knew that we were in for the fight of our lives," Villem said. "Minotaurs are fierce when provoked, and have the martial skill to back it up."

A bloody battle ensued, resulting in the loss of thirty-eight sailors, with the minotaurs suffering only seven casualties. The minotaurs, facing greater numbers and with no escape route, eventually surrendered. The minotaurs were then escorted to the dock where they were turned over to the City Guard. The minotaurs are being held in a maximum security section of the Palanthas City Jail.

The liberated elves have been given shelter by the temple of Mishakal. "Those poor souls," Sister Marilar Drogen said. "They had been abused, both mentally and physically, for months, if not years! Undoubtedly, they are victims captured during the elven diaspora. While we have been able to heal their physical wounds, their emotional scars will last a lifetime."

The City Senate is currently debating how to handle permanent housing for the former slaves. The minotaurs are being detained with charges pending.
