Adventurer Rescues Children from Sewer
by Gerrin, Staff Writer
Palanthas - Adventurer Barlow Twist, rescued two young children from the sewer this past Misham. The two children, Dortin (7) and his sister Maril (4) were with their mother Lucy Swordbreak while she was washing laundry at the Suds.
"The kids usually just play close by," Lucy said. "It was so empty that I didn't even think about keeping an eye on them. With all of this crime in the city lately I should have known better. One minute they were there and the next they were gone."
Unknown to Lucy at the time the children were playing Solmanic Quest, a children's game. The game led them to an unlocked sewer entrance and they disappeared. The frantic Lucy cried for help and that cry was answered by Barlow Twist. According to witnesses the adventurer searched the area, then went into the sewer.
"To me it wasn't a choice," Barlow said. "It was either go in there and try to find the kids or go back to their mother and tell her I wasn't going in. To me the right thing was to go into the sewers and confront anything I might find."
"I immediately tried to go as fast as I could," Barlow went on. "Walking on the narrow ledges slowed me down but I reached where the sound was coming from fairly quickly. What I saw when I got there nearly made my heart stop."
What Barlow saw were two young children, hiding in an alcove from three giant rats. Without stopping Barlow drew his sword and rushed forward. According to Barlow, he slew one rat before the others retreated. Carrying Miral and leading Dortin, Barlow emerged from the tunnel to a much relieved mother.
"I couldn't believe it," Lucy said. "When I saw Barlow come out with my children I ran over and hugged them all. Thank you so much Barlow for what you did."
