Blue Wheat Baffles Solace Farmers
by Aspen, Staff Writer
Solace - Farmers from the city of Solace have become greatly distressed. According to the farmers their wheat has turned blue. This past summer farmers reported that circles had appeared in their wheat fields. The plants seemed to have been braided in a circular pattern. A representative from the Orders of High Sorcery examined the wheat and it was determined that magic was not a factor.
According to the farmers the harvested grain looked fine but four months have passed since the harvest and when checking his grain, a farmer 10 miles north of Solace, discovered that the grain from the circles had turned blue.
Joe Blight, a farmer from Solace, finds the situation suspicious. "Some of us chose to leave the braided plants but the last two seasons have yielded poor crops so most of us couldn't afford to disregard our harvest," said Blight.
"Some of the circles were nearly as large as the fields themselves. Those of us who did harvest the crops found that the braded plants produced far more any other, producing nearly 23 bushels to the acre, compared to 9 from the wheat crops that were not touched by the strange circles."
Since the discovery of the blue wheat the local miller has refused to grind any wheat harvested in the area.
"It's just not right!" Joe Blight objected when interviewed."That's my livelihood. There's nothing wrong with it. The wizard said so."
The miller, Billy Cesik refused to comment on the matter.
