Mercantile Organizations Host Yet Another Business Course
by JOSHUASIGEP44, Staff Writer
Palanthas - This Newkolt the church of Shinare hosted a Merchants Guild Conference. Wildly successful that course inspired the Palanthas Merchants Guild, in conjunction with the Church of Shinare, to hold a follow up business course this past week.
This course, similar to the previous one, covered mainly the ins and outs of opening new businesses whereas the main theme of the first course was "How to better your business." Held at the Palanthas Merchants Guild's main hall the course was free and was open to all interested individuals. Several issues were covered, but the majority of the course was spent going over tips for people interested in opening new shops in Palanthas.
At no small cost to the temple or the Palanthas Merchants Guild they have written out a condensed version of this course in pamphlet form. The pamphlets are available at the temple of Shinare, and the Merchants Guildhall. Some of the contents of the pamphlet are below.
Review Palanthas zoning laws - You definitely do not want to start in hot legal water. Before opening your business, check your zoning ordinances. Check with all city officials or the Palanthas Merchants Guild to get information on the proper board or commission to contact for zoning laws.
Get your advertisements ready - Make sure the local populace is aware of your opening. Don't leave it to word of mouth for knowledge of your business to get out. Post flyers, banners, advertisements at all major intersections and markets.
Line up your suppliers - This will vary depending on what type of product you carry, but regardless make sure you keep open lines of communication with all of your suppliers. The suppliers are your life blood so it is paramount for any start-up to develop key relationships with the supplier.
Furnish your shop - There's no need to go with the best furnishing available, but all business need to look as professional as possible. The ultimate goal is to make your customers or clients to feel comfortable.
