Magistrates Sworn In
by Heine Stick, Staff Writer
Palanthas – On Majetag, two new magistrates were sworn in by Lord Regent Bakkard Du Chagne. The ceremony took place in front of the Palanthas Courthouse and was attended by the entire Senate, Lord Marshal of the City Guard Keene Di Qisath and other influential citizens.
The two new magistrates are Lord Jhonas Qerin and Lady Gyanna Blueshade. They both expressed a profound joy at being given the opportunity to serve the citizens of Palanthas and pledged to make the Cityhome a safe place to live and conduct business.
Lord Jhonas Qerin is the former Lord Marshal of the City Guard. He was forced to retire during the Dark Knight regime but still saw firsthand what kind of "justice" the Knights of Takhisis dealt to his fellow citizens. He is described as having a strong sense of justice and a desire to eliminate the criminal elements of Palanthas.
Lady Gyanna Blueshade is a Palanthian of noble birth who has only recently settled down after years of fighting for freedom. She is known as one of the fiercest freedom fighters opposing the Dark Knights. She is determined not to let Palanthas fall again and believes that one way of preventing that will be to fight crime.
Despite the fact that Palanthas has been free for over a year the city has not been able to finance two fulltime magistrates until now. According to a Senate spokesperson this is partly due to city finances having been too widely stretched in the period following the liberation and partly because the Courthouse was used for court marshals and other trials related to the Dark Knight regime and subsequent liberation.
