Shadow Sorcerer Sighted at Shoikan Grove
by Trampas Whiteman, Staff Writer
PALANTHAS – Members of the City Guard were startled last Bracha when a mysterious figure was seen walking out of the Shoikan Grove. The grove has been uninhabited since the fall of the Tower of High Sorcery when the dragon overlord Khellendros attacked in 384 AC.
"We were investigating a report of a Black Robe who was seen visiting the grove," City Guard Barlow Furgith said. "Now, we don't have nothing against them Black Robes, but when the Shoikan Grove is concerned, we take notice. We found the guy all right, standing at the edge of the Grove. That's when we saw...her."
"Bloody hell, was it scary!" City Guard Tolin Drasil said. "I ain't seen nothing like it. Her feet weren't touching the ground. She just floated towards the edge of the grove with shadows dancing around her feet. She wore this mask. She had these grey-black robes, and I swear, I could see right through her!"
According to City Guard officials, the individual later identified as the Shadow Sorcerer floated to the edge of the grove then attacked the Black Robe with shadowy tendrils that went down his throat and suffocated the man. "This grove is mine. Your kind is no longer welcome here," she was claimed to say.
"That's impossible," Red Robe historian Jaclyn Cashell said. "Our records indicate that the Shadow Sorcerer was really Takhisis. The Dark Queen is dead. Whoever it is must be an imposter!"
"Maybe it's just my old eyes," City Guard captain Varil Helith said, "but I could have sworn that when the woman appeared, the Tower of High Sorcery stood behind her, save that it was like a shadow of its former self. I wiped my eyes, and then it was gone."
