City Watch Recovers Scrolls
by Kendermage, Staff Writer
Palanthas – On Palast, an alert captain of the City Watch discovered a local merchant in possession of a large number of ancient vellum scrolls containing the family trees of well-known Solamnic Knights.
The merchant, Gaston Antiquitus, was apprehended as he exited his antique shop in New City. Gaston bumped into City Watch captain, Abraham Silvercrown; dropping several of the scrolls. While attempting to help the merchant pick them up; Silvercrown noticed that several of the scrolls bore the family crest of several Solamnic families. When confronted about how he came to be in possession of these artifacts, the merchant tried to bully and bluster his way out of trouble. When that failed; he attempted to flee. Sir Silvercrown subdued the merchant and summoned other members of the City Watch to take the merchant into custody on the charge of receiving stolen goods.
Further inspection of the scrolls revealed them to contain the lineages of at least fifteen well-known Solamnic families; most of them dating back to the time of Vinas Solamnus. It is unknown how these artifacts belonging to the Knights of Solamnia ended up in Gaston's possession. Gaston is a dealer in antiquities and is suspected of having ties to the criminal Thieves' Guild. Thus far none of the allegations linking him to the criminal element have proved fruitful.
Abraham Silvercrown, the arresting officer of the City Watch is quoted as saying, "I was almost dumbstruck when I noticed my family crest on one of the scrolls. How Gaston Antiquitus came to have possession of a document belonging to my family I would like very much to know. I am just happy that the scrolls were recovered before they fell into the wrong hands."
Other lineages of note included those of Crownguard, Brightblade, Dragonhelm, uth Wistan, Markennin, and uth Matar. It is unknown whether these were the only lineages in his possession or if others are yet to be found. Gaston is currently being held for questioning.
