A Kingsword is the sword of the High King of Thorbardin. The sword is presented to the High King at his coronation along with the Hammer of Kharas. If the king only has the Kingsword and not the Hammer, he can only reign as the King Regent of Thorbardin. Upon the death of the High King, the Kingsword is buried with the Dwarven king.

In order to create a Kingsword, a dwarven smith must have the touch of Reorx in spirit. It is a long, arduous process, and requires great skill. They will have a mirror-bright steel shine to them.

History of the Kingswords

The creation of the Kingsword was common prior to the Cataclysm, but the skill was lost following the Cataclysm and the last Kingsword was buried with High King Duncan. Eventually though a Kingsword was created in 348 AC by the dwarven smith Isarn Hammerfell along with his apprentice Stanach Hammerfell. They were to present the sword to the Hylar Thane Glade Hornfel Kytil so he would rule as the King Regent. It is unknown if Tarn Bellowgranite has a Kingsword.
