Nightbringer is huge heavy mace with a black oaken handle and the head of solid, blackened steel, and trimmed in gold. The mace is said to have been forged in the Tower of High Sorcery at Daltigoth by Black Robed Wizards. By touching someone with the mace and speaking 'Midnight' you can temporarily blind the person. The head of Nightbringer will turn into an ebony fire. If someone who is a follower of the Gods of Good were to pick up the mace, it would injure that person in some way. Nightbringer was give to Dragon Highlord Verminaard by the Dark Queen for becoming one of her followers. Following his death the mace was last seen in the fortress of Pax Tharkas lying near the body, unknown what became of it from there.
In the book Before the Mask it was stated that Nightbringer was forged in Godshome, while in the sourcebook War of the Lance it was the Tower of High Sorcery at Daltigoth. Also in Before the Mask, the mace was made out of ancient stone, but was countered again in WotL by calling it steel.
