Spiritual Drain (Flaw)
D&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rules
by Clive Squire
Tapping your innate, inner magic often leads you suffer periods of fatigue or even sleeplessness. Prerequisite: Levels in mystic. Penalty: Each month you must make a Fortitude save against a DC equal to 10 + 1 for each 24 hour period that you have used your domain granted ability or cast a divine spell as a mystic in. Should you fail this save, you gain no benefits from rest for 1 day per point that you failed the saving throw by. Each time you rest, you do not regain spell slots from having 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep (see Sorcerers & Bards in Chapter 10: Magic, page 179 of the Player's Handbook). Special: Although this flaw applies to any mystic, those mystics and other classes that draw power from the netherworld, such as mystics of Sensitivity, mystics of Necromancy or nightstalkers, are more affected by this flaw than other mystics. Such spellcasters also gain the fatigued condition for the period that they are unable to regain spell slots. Any affect that would make such a character fatigued, instead makes them exhausted (for more information about the fatigued and exhausted conditions, see Condition Summary in Chapter 8: Glossary on page 300 of the Dungeon Master's Guide).
