Children born to Wizards of High Sorcery on the Night of the Eye are called the Moonborn. On the Night of the Eye, if a wizard mother is in labor, a beam of moonlight corresponding to the moon that influences her magic (white for white robes, red for red robes, and black for black robes) strikes her, infusing the child with arcane energy. When the child is born it will be one of three types, again depending on which moon grants the mother's powers. The types of Moonborn are Shirak (Light), Tanda (Shadow), and Dumak (Dark). Moonborn children are rare, and none have been born in nearly forty years, not since the Chaos War ended.

Shirak Moonborn

Shirak Moonborn are children of Solinari, born to mothers who belong to the Order of White Robes. Physically, Shirak Moonborn appear to be albinos but do not suffer any ill effects from bright light. All Shirak share similar characteristics; Pearl white skin, white hair, and blue, pink, or purple eyes. Most prefer to dress in pale colors such as white, pink, or blue. A Shirak Moonborn dressed totally in white appears quite spectral, which unnerves most people. While Shirak are a rarity, they are more common among elves, particularly the Silvanesti, than among any other race. Shirak Moonborn are genetically predisposed to become white robed wizards

Combat: Shirak Moonborn serve best in a support position where she can cast her spells in relative safety.
Daylight (Su): Shirak Moonborn can use Daylight (as the spell) at will.
Moon Blessed: a Moonborn gains spellcasting prodigy and magical aptitude as bonus feats.
Natural Skill: A Moonborn gains a +2 inherent bonus to skills checks with the following skills: concentration, knowledge (arcana), spellcraft, and use magic device. These skills are always class skills for the Moonborn.
Spells per Day: (4/6/4/3; save DC 15 + spell level, 16 + spell level for divination spells.) Memorized: 0--detect magic, read magic, resistance, and mage hand; 1st—comprehend languages, identify, mage armor, magic missile, feather fall, sleep; 2nd—resist energy, detect thoughts, web, see invisibility; 3rd—dispel magic, arcane sight, flame arrow.
Spellbook; 0—All spells except, ghost sound, disrupt undead, and touch of fatigue; 1st—comprehend languages, identify, detect undead, mage armor, magic missile, feather fall, sleep, endure elements, protection from evil; 2nd—resist energy, detect thoughts, web, see invisibility, arcane lock, locate object, whispering wind; 3rd-dispel magic, arcane sight, flame arrow, magic circle against evil, tongues.

Tanda Moonborn

Tanda Moonborn are children of Lunitari born on the Night of the Eye, to mothers who belong to the Order of Red Robes. Tanda Moonborn have rose colored skin, red hair, and yellow or orange eyes. They typically dress in various shades of red. A Tanda Moonborn dressed totally in various shades of red appears to be a creature of fire, an appearance that unnerves most people. While Tanda are a rarity, they are more common among humans than among other races. Tanda Moonborn are genetically predisposed to become red robed wizards.

Dumak Moonborn

Dumak Moonborn are children of Nuitari, born on the Night of the Eye to mother's sworn to the Order of the Black Robes. They have ebony skin, black hair, and red eyes. Most Dumak wear dark colored clothes, preferring black volumous robes, with hoods. Dressed this way they are often mistaken for shadows or wraiths. Dumak's do nothing to disavow people of this perception, and even play up to it. Dumak are rare but of all races they are most common among Ogres. Like their cousins, Dumak are predisposed to becoming black robed wizards, but a small percentage of them go renegade.

Combat: Dumak Moonborn are more physical than either of their cousins. They are quite happy to wade into physical combat, or even hang back and pummel opponents with spells.
Darkness (Su): Tanda Moonborn can use Darkness (as the spell) at will.

All Moonborn are very intelligent (+2 Int), but their otherworldly appearance tends to frighten people (-2 Cha). Most live a lonely, solitary existence away from people, join a band of like minded adventures, use magic to blend in, or spend significant amounts of time at one of the Towers of High Sorcery, where they are enjoy somewhat of a celebrity status.

Creating a Moonborn

"Moonborn" is an inherited template that can be added to any corporeal humanoid (referred to hereafter as the base creature.)

A Moon born uses the base creature's statistics and abilities except as noted here.
Size and Type: The creature's type changes to augmented humanoid. Size is unchanged. Do not recalculate base attack bonus or saves.
Special Attacks: A Moonborn retains all the special attacks of the base creature.
Special Qualities: A Moonborn retains all the special qualities of the base creature, plus the following special qualities:
Shirak Moonborn: Daylight (Su): Shirak Moonborn can use Daylight (as the spell) at will.
Tanda Moonborn: Fade Out (Su): Tanda Moonborn can use Invisibility (as the spell) at will.
Dumak Moonborn: Darkness (Su): Tanda Moonborn can use Darkness (as the spell) at will.
Moon Blessed: a Moonborn gains spellcasting prodigy and magical aptitude as bonus feats.
Natural Skill: A Moonborn gains a +2 inherent bonus to skills checks with the following skills: concentration, knowledge (arcana), spellcraft, and use magic device. These skills are always class skills for the Moonborn.
Abilities: Adjust from the base creature as follows: +2 Int, -2 Cha

Tanda: Any but usually neutral
Dumak: Any but usually evil
Level Adjustment: Same as base creature +2
