Create Dragon Vassal

Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 5
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 round
Range: Touch
Target: One humanoid
Duration: Permanent
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

See Dragonspawn and Dragon Magic for more information. This spell turns the target into a dragon vassal, as described on pages 29-31 of the Bestiary of Krynn. When the spell is completed, the dragon scale attaches itself to the vassal's skin. The target becomes a dragon vassal of the dragon whose scale was used in the spell, even if the dragon didn't cast the spell. The spell's DC is 10 + 1/2 dragon's HD + dragon's Charisma modifier. Willing targets may automatically fail the save.

If the dragon dies, or is already dead, then the connection and control is immediately lost (with all associated powers). It is possible that, when the vassal is dying, the scale is detached and it can be given to someone else. If the dragon is not present, it must use some other spell (such as scrying) to be able to see and cast this spell when the scale is newly detached. This must be done within minutes after the original vassal has died or the scale won't work anymore.

Material Component: The scale of a dragon that is Ancient or older age category. The scale must have been taken from the dragon in the last hour, and have been removed by the dragon itself. This causes the dragon 1 point of Constitution ability damage.
